Art of Digital Animation with Procreate Dreams  

This class offers an in-depth exploration of hand drawn animation using the newly released Procreate Dreams. We’ll explore the art of hand-drawn animation while taking inspiration from Studio Ghibli films. This class covers the fundamentals of storytelling, world building, character development, and crafting soundscapes to develop a full animation that authentically depicts personal narratives through digital painting and both key-framing and frame by frame animation. By the end of this class, you’ll have a strong foundation in 2D animation principles, an understanding of Procreate Dreams, and the confidence to tell any story you can dream up.

Class Objectives:

1. Storytelling: Develop the ability to craft compelling narratives and effectively communicate emotions through your characters and animation.
2. Character Design and Development: Create and refine your own characters and bring them to life. How they look and how they move breathes their spirit and personality into them.
3. Foreground and Background: Explore depth and create the illusion of atmospheric space in 2D.
4. Personal Narratives: Take inspiration from your life to craft a compelling story. Discover how self-expression can become immersive.
5. Key-framing: Learn the essential skills and techniques of animation without having to draw every single frame.
6. Digital Painting: Acquire the knowledge of virtual brushes and bring your visions to life on the screen. 
7. Crafting Soundscapes: Master the fundamental principles of sound for film. Set the tone and add texture through voiceover, soundtrack, folly, and effects. 
8. World Building: Learn to build unique and interesting worlds for your characters to inhabit.
