Intrada & Quickstep was premiered at the IDRS Conference in Winston-Salem, NC in 1986. The lyrical Intrada features oboe cadenzas and a bassoon duet which takes the instruments into their highest registers. The Quickstep is a technical showpiece, requiring fast tonguing effects and rapid scalar passages in all four parts. It is in arch form (ABCBA) and ends with a very fast coda.
